So here’s the deal. I don’t typically like talking about myself, but I love talking about my hobbies. I have a ton of them and I’m easily inspired by the world around me. I LOVE Halloween, Star Wars, Video Games, Legos, my kid, my house, my peloton, the ocean, the list goes on too far, honestly. I have a huge addiction problem with collecting things, but that’s finally starting to slow a bit as I reach my mid-30’s. I have a son who has quickly become my world and I love sharing my nerd culture with him and my wife of (currently) 7 years.
Let’s start with what I love to do. I, like my father before me, have a problem with sitting still. I always have to be involved in a project when I’m home and I’m halfway decent at most DIY things. When I’m burnt out on projects and need some recovery time, I typically turn to video games and Legos. I love everything from the latest Call of Duty with friends, to trying to understand these new generation Pokemon games. Legos have become a lot more popular in adults, but I’ve been steadily collecting and building them since I was about 5. I still have my first few sets my Dad brought home, and now that I have money, I enjoy buying the bigger sets from time to time so that I can build, light, and display them, and then watch them slowly collected dust over time.
Outside of the house, I love photography and scuba diving. I fell in love with being underwater when I was about 15 during a trip to the bahamas. I would dive on every vacation I could, but didn’t actually get certified until roughly 2018 on our honeymoon, when I finally convinced AEP (my wife) to try it and FINALLY got her hooked. Now we’re both Divemasters and work for our local shop from time to time teaching younglings how to blow bubbles underwater. It’s VERY rare to catch me in the water without my camera these days, and I’m desperately due for an upgrade as my little Canon T6i falls behind in both tech and quality.
I went to college for Music Education, and decided being a teacher just wasn’t for me pretty early on. I then messed around and finally settled on Music Composition & Theory, with a second bachelors in Music Performance. I’m a bassoonist by default, but I love playing piano as well. I’ve written quite a few pieces for all types of ensembles, but life has gotten in the way of me writing as much as I’d like to these days, so I haven’t produced a piece in years now. I’m hoping to change that this year by making a few reeds, practicing a few concertos, writing a new piece, and possibly joining a community orchestra.
Since we’re still talking about hobbies, I also have a Peloton Bike that I picked up in 2022 and I’m a fanatic about it. You wouldn’t know it looking at me, because my schedule can be pretty inconsistent and I LOVE food, but I love my bike and I can’t wait to buy their new rower soon. I really stand behind the product despite their operational issues.
I work in IT as an Sr Application Analyst, which means absolutely nothing since I do everything from Tier 1 all the way up through IT Architecture, but in general I enjoy working in technology and am pretty versatile in what I do.
I’m sure I’ll add more to this page soon, but it’s early on a Sunday morning, I’ve only had 1 cup of coffee, and this blog is still very much in development and I couldn’t care less who reads it. So now you have just a slight glimpse into my life and hobbies. Check the blog for more details as I get to it.
